Chapter #10: Death's Head
Chapter #10: Death's Head

Today we drop in at "Vamps and Stuff" for a few words about what I learned along the way.  C'mon by, bring a cup of tea, and join us @ www.vampandstuff.com

In the meantime, here's an excerpt from Bud Bradshaw's"RIVERWALKER" Chapter #10, Death's Head, on www.amazon.com/kindle

"In a dimly lighted room a massive figure slouched in a deep blue leatherette recliner, rubbing his brow, absorbed by the action on his television screen.  When the courthouse segment finished, a soft click and the screen went black.  Enveloped by a thick cloud of pipe smoke, the figure sat motionless in the perfectly quiet room, agitated; the pink and purple spider shimmered on his brow.  Only now, while aglow and contrasted by semi-darkness, was the spider’s true identity clear: its four legs were, in reality, crossed bones; its body, a leering skull.

     Totenkopf, the Germans called it.

     The Death’s Head.

Adler was outraged by the proximity of the archaeological dig to his subterranean storage area, the skeletons and cannon only feet away from his tunnel complex.  If the dig continued in earnest and the building’s foundation became compromised, he would be found out, his project disrupted.

On the other hand, fresh bodies found elsewhere on the River Walk could distract from the dig site, perhaps close it down, and very likely insure the successful completion of his own project.  It was time for fresh bodies, anyway.  Time was closing in on him, urging him back to work."
